LOBO TEACHES US ABOUT PROTECTION!!
Lobo arrived at St. Francis Wolf Sanctuary with his long time female companion, Bianca. Lobo seems to get his highly intelligent nature from his previous home. He and Bianca lived with a scientist who gave them a loving and stimulating environment. With one wolf that is difficult, but this gentleman managed to do it with two! Unfortunately, due to some personal developments, the scientist had to look for a new home for his friends. We took in both Bianca and Lobo and made sure that they were not separated.
Lobo has always been very opinionated. He has been known to proudly protect his special friends and has had some close calls with volunteers. Ninety-nine percent of any mishap with a wolf is caused by misreading the wolf’s nonverbal cues. Wolves will clearly communicate what is acceptable and what is not. Lobo is no different. In 2008, Bianca passed away and Lobo went into a period of grieving and would not eat. Lobo may be starting to show his age but you can still hear the power in his howl.
